Editor’s Note: One of our clients is a gifted writer who submitted this poem to our monthly newsletter on the 1st anniversary of the January 12, 2010 earthquake that killed more than 300,000 people. BLESS THE CHILD IN HAITI Our ‘Mother-Earth,’ forsaken queen, Some kind of scary, shaken scene, Port-au-Prince is falling down, There is no shelter to be found! With stars and teardrops in their eyes, Children lie beneath the sky. Singin’ I love you and you love me too! It was all they had, it was all they knew! Livin’ on the sky, they say, Good Lord help us through the day! Give us hope, let us pray, Bless the child in Haiti! Day after day goes by, Still, the tears fall from their eyes. Day after day without enough, But they got tough and they stood up! They share the songs of Wind and Rain, That bring to life the season’s change, And mask the haze of mortal man, Carbon footprints in the sand! Livin’ on the sky, they say, Good Lord help us through the day! Give us hope, let us pray, Bless the child in Haiti!
