| Women's Testimonies Make A Lasting Impression |

By Carrie Hess When my class and I visited St. Vincent de Paul, I really didn't know what to expect. After arriving, however, I realized that homelessness is a serious problem in our community and that it affects a lot of different people. Seeing the men's shelter let me really see the conditions that the homeless live in. St. Vincent de Paul offers rooms for these men to stay overnight and also gives them the opportunity to take a shower and do their laundry. I was really glad the see that the homeless were being taken care of. But, one of the best experiences of our trip was listening to our speakers at St. Jude Women's I was so amazed at how open these women were with us, and they really gave me a lot to think about for my own life. These women were so strong and willing to share their mistakes with us that it made me admire their courage for talking with us. |
