From WHAS11.com, Dec. 14, 2010 (WHAS11)- Thousands of people in need are getting free coats during a very chilly Tuesday. It is all thanks to a determined Borden, Ind. girl. Makenzie Smith, 11, started Makenzie's Coat Closet five years ago. This year she collected more than 4,000 new and gently used coats for men, women and kids. She has teamed up with St. Vincent de Paul to help keep those in need warm this winter. The coat giveaway lasts until 4 p.m. or until all the coats are gone. It is in the lower level of the Cathedral of the Assumption. Walk-ins will be able to choose one coat per person, while supplies last. |
