Social justice has long been at the heart of our mission -- reaching out to the poor in Christian compassion, without judgment regarding matters of faith, background or circumstance.

In 1833, St. Vincent de Paul was founded by Frederic Ozanam, an idealistic 20-year-old student in Paris, France. With his love of God and desire to help others, he sought to put his faith into action.

Inspired by the exemplary charitable life led by St. Vincent de Paul (1581-1660), he and six of his friends dedicated themselves to serving the poor through a group they called the Society of St Vincent de Paul.
