Volunteers visited stations stacked with items like deodorant and toothpaste and filled the backpacks and storage bags. Abigail Costello, Associate Director of Development, welcomed the volunteers. Muhammad Ali Special Edition Socks donated by Bombas were included in the kits. Bombas has donated hundreds of pairs of socks to us over the years. Volunteers assembled about 1,000 hygiene kits that will be distributed to those in need around campus. A group from Harbor House stopped by to help assemble hygiene kits.
For Mayor’s Give A Day in April, St. Vincent de Paul Louisville hosted its first volunteer event in months. About 50 volunteers showed up on a Saturday morning and assembled 1,000 hygiene kits that will be handed out to clients on campus and to those visiting the Open Hand Kitchen.
While our Food Pantry volunteers have been here weekly the past year, there’s been very little opportunity for big volunteer events. As restrictions relax, we hope to schedule more events this year.
