The time of year is upon us for setting goals, making resolutions, and dreaming big about all the exciting possibilities a new year holds. Make 2018 the year that you make a resolution to help your community. Whether you are volunteering for the first time or are reigniting and old passion for community service, this is a resolution that will keep giving.
Your 2018 Volunteer Checklist
Cook at the Open Hand Kitchen
We serve two hot meals a day every day of the year. Sign-up as an individual or sponsor a meal as an organization. Chef Shunnarah and his team would be happy to have your help!
Be a Guide at the Food Pantry
Help individuals from Smoketown/Shelby Park choose groceries for their household. This is great for morning people that have time during the work-week.
Get Rid of Your Plastic Bags
We recycle plastic grocery bags in our food pantry. You can drop off bags at our main office any weekday between 8–4pm. It is a simple enough thing, but it helps our clients immensely. You are also reducing plastic waste!
Make a Donation
Every penny you give us goes directly into helping people right here in Louisville. Consider making a monthly donation; it adds up fast!
Be a Positive Role Model
We need caring adults Monday-Thursday between 4–7pm to assist with our after-school tutoring and enrichment classes. You can you use this link to schedule a day and time that will work for you!
Go Shopping
Our four thrift stores located around Louisville and Southern Indiana generate income to support our programs. Commit to doing some sustainable shopping in 2018!
Add Events to Your Social Calendar
St. Vincent de Paul holds various fundraising events throughout the year. From Clubs & Cocktails to our monthly FoodRaisers, there are opportunities to engage no matter what your budget. You can check-out our events page on our website, follow-us on Facebook, or ask us about getting on our email list to stay in the loop. Speaking of fundraising events, we are having FoodRaiser at Mark’s Feed Store on January 10th! You can print a voucher from our event page or contact Mallory Tober at mtober@svdplou.org to have one emailed to you!
Organize a Hygiene Drive
We have an on-going need for personal care products for the men and women in our shelters. Donations can be brought to our main office any weekday between 8am and 4pm. If you have been wondering what to do with your hotel toiletries, this could be the opportunity for you!
