The spirit of giving is alive and well within St. Vincent de Paul.
When Alphonso, a cook in our Open Hand Kitchen, noticed that one of our longtime campus residents liked to play the old, out-of-tune piano on the stage area of our large dining room, he got an idea.
“I had an electronic keyboard in my basement that my kids weren’t using anymore,” Alphonso recalls, “so I thought he might like to have it.”
Larry, who has lived at SVDP’s Tranquil House Apartments for many years, was surprised and delighted to receive such an unexpected gift from one of the SVDP staff members who helps cook his daily meals.
And it gave Alphonso immense satisfaction as well. “I was just glad to do it,” he says.
