We are thankful for the generosity of local Fifth Third Bank employees. As part of Fifth Third Day, employees donated $6,250 to the Open Hand Kitchen and stuck around to serve lunch. Fifth Third bank has become an important partner in the work we do here at St. Vincent de Paul.
We can’t say this enough, but volunteers really do make a difference to the community at St. Vincent de Paul. Volunteers serve daily in the Open Hand Kitchen. Our Food Pantry is completely staffed and run by volunteers. Volunteer groups paint walls, clean up the campus, organize and staff the Santa Shop, keep the Clothes […]
During Ramadan, the Open Hand Kitchen was host to an Iftar dinner with the Guiding Light Islamic Center. Thank you to Safier Mediterranean Deli for catering, Imam Wasif Iqbal and Muhammad Salah, and Mayor Greg Fischer for visiting! The sense of fellowship and community made it a great evening for all.
On March 10, a record 47 Vincentians were inducted into the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in a ceremony held at Mary Queen of Peace Church. “It’s a testament to the importance of St. Vincent de Paul that we had 47 inductees this year. That’s a large number. And most impressive is that a […]
We want to thank the 46 volunteers who came out to help us package over 2,000 hygiene kits during the Mayor’s Give a Day Project! These kits will be given out in the Food Pantry, and Ozanam Inn Shelter to those in need. We were able to give hygiene supplies to our friends at Wellspring […]
For many years, St. Vincent de Paul is host to practicum students from the University of Louisville’s Kent School of Social Work. This year one of those students, senior Shawnnesha Mahoney, is conducting her practicum in Ozanam Inn Men’s Shelter and chose to work with eight of the men for her Capstone Project. The title […]
Once again the generous folks at Little Caesars brought the Love Kitchen to St. Vincent de Paul. On March 15 (the Ides of March) the Love Kitchen served hot, fresh pizzas for the dinner service at the Open Hand Kitchen. Thanks, Little Caesars. We heart you too!
Wind gusts up to 60 mph didn’t stop the Fifth Third Financial Empowerment Mobile from setting up shop on campus on March 14. The eBus offers help with credit reports, home ownership seminars, and tips on how to avoid foreclosure. We are so thankful to Fifth Third Bank for their continued support. They offer financial […]
Louisville Grows and the Enterprise team were in the Smoketown/Shelby Park neighborhood planting trees and St. Vincent de Paul received one. Thanks to all the volunteers that worked so hard to beautify the neighborhood and help rebuild our tree canopy.

We are forming a committee and need women who will help […]
