The St. Vincent de Paul Louisville staff and clients want to wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. Thank you for your generous support! We would like to share with you a letter we recently received from Anita Garrison, a Vincentian from St. Stephen Martyr.
I wanted to share with you what led me to get involved with St. Vincent de Paul. I am currently and for the last four years a member of St. Stephen Martyr’s St. Vincent de Paul committee. My parents, Edward and Rita Hayden, brought St. Vincent de Paul to the parish where I was raised. I saw my parents’ devotion to the poor through many, many years as they selflessly worked as president and founders and the hours of work as they started a thrift store. My father’s dad, my grandfather, had given the “example” as he served as a volunteer for countless years at the St. Vincent de Paul in his parish.
My parents were often on the phone with parishioners asking for donations and even counseling families in dire need. As a child, I went with my mom as she left me to care for children as she took mothers to doctor appointments and other errands. My parents were very hands on with those in need working to find them lodging, furniture, and clothing.
May you and your loved ones share a warm and wonderful Christmas.
Sincerely,
Anita Garrison
We hope you will consider a gift this Christmas of $25, $50 or $100. Your donation will help to make a difference for Louisville’s poorest children and families, and for that we have a grateful heart!
