This year, St. Vincent de Paul Louisville will continue to provide Christmas to families who cannot afford to do so through the “Gifts from the Heart” Christmas program. Christmas trees with hearts denoting a child and their sizes will be distributed the first week of November to businesses and schools and other organizations. Individuals and groups are invited to select a heart and purchase items that a child of that age and size could use.
All the new gifts donated between now and December 6 will be displayed in the gym of the Family Success Center, turning the gym into a mini mall where parents are invited to “shop” at no cost for their children. This way parents are actively involved in selecting the specific gifts their child will receive.
The “Santa Shop” will be held on December 11 and 12 in the Family Success Center.
This program is in its 22nd year. While last year, it was adapted to meet the challenges caused by Covid-19 and parents were unable to make specific decisions regarding style and type of gifts received, we are confident that this year we can return to a more regular shopping experience.
If you would like to donate to the Santa Shop or volunteer to work in it, please contact Donna Young at 502-301-8688 or dyoung@svdplou.org. To donate gifts to Santa Shop, visit our Amazon wish list at http://bit.ly/SVDPSantaShop.
How do I find out more about the kid I have chosen to sponsor? I need to know more specifics about his gift requests.
