St. Vincent de Paul’s goal is to help our partner agency, Dare to Care, be one of the top vote-getters in Walmart’s online campaign. If Dare to Care ranks in the Top 50 nationwide, SVDP’s Food Pantry will receive $5,000 for its new Food Pantry.
FOLLOW THESE EASY STEPS:
1. Go to www.walmart.com/fighthunger
2. Search for “Dare to Care” or the ZIP code “40228”
3. You will be asked to log on to your Facebook account, only as verification protocol to prevent voter fraud
4. A pop-up box will appear w/ Dare to Care’s page
5. Vote for DARE TO CARE!
6. MOST IMPORTANT STEP: Repeat this process again after 24 hours, DAILY (or as often as you can!), until Oct. 5!
FAQS 2014 WALMART FIGHT HUNGER SPARK CHANGE So… am I helping St. Vincent de Paul or Dare to Care?
Both. Dare to Care supplies food to: 1) SVDP’s Open Hand Kitchen, which serves 140,000 free meals a year to the poor and homeless each year; and to 2) SVDP’s Food Pantry, which offers free emergency food assistance to 300 poor households each month. SVDP relies on Dare to Care food donations to sustain these operations. A vote-winning campaign for Dare to Care will result in $5,000 for St. Vincent de Paul’s Food Pantry!
Is there a minimum age for voting? Yes, the minimum age for voting is 13 Will the voting be restricted to 24 hours after the previous vote?
Yes, users will be able to cast a vote one time within a 24-hour period.
Is there any way to vote outside of Facebook? No. The voting site is not being hosted on Facebook. The voting site is www.walmart.com/fighthunger. Voters must have a Facebook profile in order to vote, however, because Walmart will be using Facebook verification protocols to prevent voting fraud. Voters need to be logged in to Facebook when they go to www.walmart.com/fighthunger to vote so their identity as a unique voter can be validated.
Will Walmart be collecting voters’ personal information? No. Walmart will not be collecting any information from voters and will not be directing future communications/marketing to these individuals.
Will the voting application work with mobile devices? Yes, the voting site will work with smart phones and tablets.
Will voters have to “Like” Walmart on Facebook in order to vote? No. Users will not be required to “Like” a local Walmart store or the national Walmart page in order to vote. Voting will not make voters “Followers” of Walmart on Facebook.
