About 35 volunteers helped to repaint St. Vincent de Paul’s Open Hand Kitchen, located in a former church sanctuary. “It is the most beautiful building on our campus, with its altar and stained-glass windows,” Ed Wnorowski, executive director for St. Vincent de Paul, said in a press release. “But it’s also the most highly utilized building.”
The Honeywell employees helped to provide a fresh coat of paint for the kitchen that is expected to serve more than 140,000 free meals this year. Managers said the walls definitely needed a facelift, and the volunteers were happy to help however they could.
“Whatever they need to do, we come and do,” said Ray Roberge, volunteer coordinator for Honeywell. “Painting this Open Hand Kitchen was the right thing to do.”
