With the support of our friends at Metro United Way, St. Vincent de Paul recently celebrated the opening of our Little Free Library. Stocked with children’s books to be shared freely by the youth who participate in after-school programs at our Family Success Center, the Little Free Library reinforces Shelby Park as a Literacy Friendly Neighborhood.
Community leaders attended the official unveiling of the Little Free Library, which the children at SVDP had colorfully painted with the words “Family Success Center.”
A Little Free Library is a small wooden box on a post, similar to a mailbox, containing donated books for children to borrow and return, using the honor system. But of course, it is much more: It is a window to the world for children who gain access to books and reading and learning.
Would you like to donate books to our Little Free Library?
We need books for all ages, kindergarten through middle school. Drop off books Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 4pm at our Administration Building, 1015-C S. Preston St., Louisville, KY 40203.
Thank you!
