Metro United Way’s 2-1-1 help referral service directs people looking for resources to help them face life challenges, often for the first time, to the appropriate service provider.

Do You Need Housing or Shelter?
To reserve a shelter bed for the night, call the Single Point of Entry office at the Coalition for the Homeless at (502) 637-BEDS (2337). The Single Point of Entry staff takes calls seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call this number to reserve a bed in an emergency shelter. They will direct you to the shelter that has an available bed that meets your needs.
St. Vincent de Paul’s housing applications are also being handled through the Coalition for the Homeless/Common Assessment. To be assessed for permanent housing opportunities, call (502) 637-BEDS (2337) and ask about the Common Assessment.
We do have two apartment complexes to which prospective tenants can apply directly:
Tranquil House is a Section 8 permanent housing complex with 12 single bedroom units. To be eligible to apply for residency in these apartments, prospective tenants should either have a diagnosis of a severe mental illness or be over age 62. St. Vincent de Paul offers case management to tenants, and tenants are able to use the resources and assistance available on our campus. If you are interested in living in Tranquil House, complete the application below and submit it with a copy of your Social Security Card and photo ID to our offices at 1015-C S. Preston St., Louisville, KY 40203 (Attn: Housing Manager). We maintain a waiting list for eligible applicants and you will be contacted when an open unit is available.
Roberts Hall is a Section 8 permanent housing complex with 24 Single Room Occupancy units for women where residents have a private bedroom and share common spaces and facilities. To be eligible to apply for residency in this complex, prospective tenants must be women who are living in substandard housing. St. Vincent de Paul provides case management to help tenants become self-sufficient, and tenants are able to use the resources and assistance available on our campus. If you are interested in living in Roberts Hall, complete the application below and submit it with a copy of your Social Security Card, copy of your Birth Certificate, copy of your TB card, copy of your photo ID, and documentation that your current housing is substandard, to Roberts Hall at 1032 E. Burnett Ave., Louisville, KY 40217 (Attn: Program Manager). We maintain a waiting list for eligible applicants, and you should call (502) 636-3549 once a week to maintain your place on the waiting list until a unit becomes available.
Are You Facing Financial Hardship?
To request food, clothing, or emergency financial assistance with rent or utility bills, contact our receptionist during weekday business hours, at (502) 584-2480, ext. 345. We offer referrals to many local agencies and may be able to assist you through referrals to one of our SVDP Conferences in Louisville, Central Kentucky or Southern Indiana. Please note: We do not provide financial assistance through SVDP’s offices at our downtown campus or administration building.
