St. Vincent de Paul Louisville would like to announce and give a warm welcome to the new Director of Development, Rich Flaherty. Rich and his wife, Joan just celebrated their 30th anniversary. They have two children, daughter Grace, who is living with her husband in Washington DC working for the Obama Foundation, and son Cullen, who will be graduating soon with a degree in criminal justice and plans to attend law school.
Rich is originally from the San Francisco area. As a teenager he spent his time coaching a swim team and working in his dad’s gas station. Rich and his family moved to Louisville in 1992 for his wife’s career. With no close family in Louisville, they started a family tradition almost 20 years ago having close neighborhood friends over for Christmas Eve dinner and attend mass. In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf, collecting wine and cooking barbeque.
He spent the majority of his career working at Hewlett Packard and as VP of Sales in the healthcare industry. “After 33 years in Sales and Marketing, I made the decision to change careers and wanted to find a position where I could leverage my sales and marketing experience and do something fulfilling. Joan and I have been involved with St. Joe’s Children’s Home Picnic, running the Cake Booth for the last 14 years. Fundraising and helping those most vulnerable people in need is in my blood, and when I saw the Development position with SVDP, it was a perfect fit. I am thrilled to have found a great place to embark on this new direction.”
He lives by the motto, “everything happens for a reason” and we look forward to the many great reasons and the expertise he brings to St. Vincent de Paul Louisville.
