LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – An estimated 250 people were served a warm Easter meal at St. Vincent De Paul’s Open Hand Kitchen Sunday.
The annual feast was free and opened to everyone in the community. The soup kitchen serves hot meals every day of the week to men, women and children in need but the meal served on Sunday afternoon was extra special.
“One, I hope they feel that the holiday is important because it’s Easter and how God and Jesus have to play into this but also how this is a good holiday just to celebrate in itself that everybody should have a nice, warm meal every once in a while,” volunteer Paige Anderson said.
Many of those who chose to serve the Easter meal were volunteers. They brought their whole family for the holiday and will make it a tradition about helping others.
