Client DG experienced homelessness after he lost his employment as a long tome over the road truck driver due to complications with diabetes. Doug was referred to SVDP Oznam Inn after a brief stay at OLOP for depression and suicidal ideation. Doug was quickly moved in our Sanctuary Bed Program due to deteriorating mental and physical health. Doug was also referred to the MHSU program and rapid rehousing. Doug was quickly able to work towards recovering both physically and mentally and has recently moved into his own apartment and currently working towards recertification as a truck driver.
Louis Simmons was able to move into his own apartment after becoming homeless due to COVID-19. He honorably served his country and now he has gained full time employment and has successfully moved into his apartment.
Kelly successfully moved from Waypoint House into an apartment via the FUP program after being told the Home of the Innocents had no spots in their program. She successfully moved and was able to obtain all of the furniture her and her daughter needed as well as many other household items. SVDP was able to provide many household goods thanks to a partnership with AT&T and the Coalition for the Homeless.
Julie fled her hometown to come to Louisville, escaping her abusive situation. She left the hospital where she was recovering and came to Louisville despite having nowhere to go. She was living on the street until she was referred to our transitional housing program. She moved in early December and has since been promoted twice at her new full-time job.
