On behalf of the St. Vincent de Paul Louisville board, staff and all of the people we serve each day, thank you very much for your support of the 2019 Abel Construction Clubs & Cocktails! This is our largest fundraiser of the year, and it provides urgently needed funds to help thousands of poor and homeless men, women, and children in Louisville and Southern Indiana. This year you helped raise over $130,000!
St. Vincent de Paul’s largest annual event, the 2019 Abel Construction Clubs & Cocktails presented by The Underwriters Group took place Sunday, September 8 at Marriott Louisville East with a dinner and auction, followed by a golf scramble on September 9 at Hurstbourne Country Club.
Dinner
Before the main event, guests bid on over 80 auction items ranging from jewelry to dinner packages. The very popular bourbon-pull sold out before dinner started and raffle tickets were sold for a chance to win a large bottle of Weller Special Reserve.
Vicki Rogers of V Media Group emceed the evening and auctioneer Shaun Logsdon, in full-cowboy attire that included a 10-gallon black hat, led the live auction.
Guest Speaker
With a warm hug, Bridget Key welcomed our guest speaker, Adrienne Elmehalaway, to the stage. As Adrienne’s case manager, Bridget has seen Adrienne at rock bottom but has also had the privilege of seeing Adrienne build a new life for herself, step by step.
Adrienne has struggled with her parent’s addiction as well as her own for many years. She moved several times with her son, trying to maintain her sobriety but relapsed more than once.
Through case management and hard work while living at SVDP’s family housing, Adrienne is waiting for her move-up voucher to rent her own apartment.
Sadly, Adrienne’s story is not unique, but through donor support, St. Vincent de Paul can help people like Adrienne get back on their feet and lead healthy, productive lives.
Golf Scramble
The weather could not have been nicer as 24 teams took to the links. First place for the golf scramble went the Schardein Mechanical team of Dennis Meiman, Matt Hawkins, Rocky Nardi and Andy Paschel.
Second place went to the Assured Partners team of Andy Bennett, Brian Nichols, Robert English and Jeff Gumm.
Third place went to the team of Larry Blandford, Greg Lehman, Brad Lehman and Bill Straub.
Other winners included Walt Schwartz (Longest Putt Winner), Greg Lehman (Closest to the Hole), Howard Goldberg (Longest Drive, Men), Karen Morris (Longest Drive, Women) and Terry Aubrey (Putting Contest Winner).
And last, but not least, Tim Tudor won the raffle of a bottle of Weller Special Reserve!
Thank You
We would like to thank all that attended this year’s event. Your support funds our mission of sheltering the homeless and feeding and clothing the needy.
